They also questioned how heat tape was applied to the pipes and how they were insulated. Residents said they believe the reason that the water pipes froze is that they were extended above the ground under mobile homes. Northaven is just north of Maugans Avenue, and includes at least 100 homes, according to residents. Herald-Mail Media interviewed nine residents who described problems with frozen pipes and a lack of water that still were plaguing some homeowners this week. Residents said waterlines that were extended to their homes recently froze, leaving some of them without water for more than a week in some cases. When temperatures plunged to single digits last week, residents in the Northaven mobile-home park on Pennsylvania Avenue had something else with which to contend - no water. ![]()
